Hallowed bones sons
Author: Lucy SmokePage Count: UnknownPublication Date: Expected publication 2026-10-06 APL A dark why-choose romance, you say? Hallowed Bones, the first in the Sons of Salem series, promises to be a seductive and thrilling tale of cursed bloodlines, secret societies, and a powerful heroine. As I sit here, surrounded by empty coffee cups and the remnants of last night's pizza, I find myself drawn to the mysterious world Lucy Smoke has created. The premise is straightforward enough: four men, one woman, and five families accused of witchcraft. But it's the subtle hints of a larger, more sinister world that really catch my attention. The mention of legacies, witches, and something "far worse than myths" suggests a rich, complex mythology at play. And then, of course, there's the heroine, Haven Wardwell, who seems to be the key to unlocking it all. But what really fascinates me is the way Smoke has structured the narrative around Haven's relationships with the four men: Ezra Bishop, Cameron Goode, Lyall Corey, and Reyes Scott. It's a classic "harem" setup, but one that's been subverted by the dark, gothic atmosphere and the promise of a powerful, possibly supernatural, heroine. I'm reminded of authors like Sarah J. Maas and Leigh Bardugo, who have both explored similar themes in their own work. And yet, despite the familiar tropes, I'm not entirely convinced that Smoke is playing it safe. There's something about the way the synopsis hints at a larger, more sinister world that suggests a deeper level of complexity. The mention of ghosts haunting the corridors of Ipswich College, for example, implies a level of psychological horror that's not always present in these types of romances. But, I must admit, I'm also a bit skeptical. The synopsis is frustratingly vague, and I'm not entirely sure what to expect from the story. Is it a romance, a fantasy, or something in between? And what, exactly, is the nature of Haven's relationships with the four men? Is it a genuine polyamorous relationship, or is it something more complicated? Time will tell, I suppose. But for now, I'm left with more questions than answers. Will Hallowed Bones be a game-changer in the world of dark romance, or will it succumb to the same tired tropes that have plagued the genre for years? Only one way to find out, I suppose. As I sit here, sweating in the August heat, I'm reminded of the old adage: "be careful what you wish for." Haven Wardwell may have stumbled into a world of magic and mystery, but at what cost? And will she be able to navigate the treacherous landscape of Ipswich College, or will she become just another ghost haunting its corridors? A dangerous gamble, indeed. #DarkRomance #WhyChoose #WitchyVibes
